Editor’s Note

Thanks for spending a little piece of your Monday with Loveland Konnx. The goal, as always, is simple: help you figure out the best version of your weekend fast, without making you dig through fifteen tabs and three vague event calendars.

This week’s issue has a very clear center of gravity. If you want one easy plan that feels distinctly Loveland, it’s the art-show weekend downtown. If you need family-friendly, adult-friendly, and free-ish options around it, I’ve got those lined up too.

If you hear about a great event, a new local menu worth trying, or a business that deserves a spotlight, hit reply and send it my way. And if this issue helps someone else make plans, forward it to them. That’s how this thing grows.

🧨 WEEKEND HYPE — What’s Up in Loveland

Loveland has one of those rare weekends where the answer to “what should we do?” does not need to be complicated. You can build a full Friday-through-Sunday around live art, one strong kid event, and a patio stop that makes the whole plan feel intentional.

Family event: The Underground Adventures of Dino Girl
Teaser: A library stop with enough dino chaos to keep the kids locked in.
Link: Loveland Public Library events
The Gist: Dino Girl lands at Loveland Public Library on Saturday, May 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with an all-ages show built around science, imagination, and prehistoric fun.
Why It Matters: It is a clean, easy Saturday anchor for families that does not require a huge budget or a giant commitment.

Adult/Nightlife event: Chris Ramey live at Loveland Aleworks
Teaser: Downtown beer, live music, and a strong “stay out a little longer” vibe.
Link: Loveland Aleworks events
The Gist: Loveland Aleworks has Chris Ramey scheduled for Saturday, May 30 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Why It Matters: If your ideal Saturday night is low-stress and local, this is exactly the kind of plan that gets people out without feeling overproduced.

Free event: Splash-pad weekend at Loveland parks
Teaser: The easiest free warm-weather win in town.
Link: Loveland parks facilities
The Gist: Loveland’s splash pads at Fairgrounds Park and Loveland Sports Park are operating Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the Mehaffey Park water feature is running daily through Labor Day.
Why It Matters: Free, easy, and highly kid-approved is a strong combination when the weather turns.

Wildcard event: Governor’s Art Show live paint weekend
Teaser: One of Loveland’s signature art weekends is still the most forwardable plan on the board.
Link: Governor’s Art Show & Sale
The Gist: The 35th annual Governor’s Art Show & Sale runs at the Loveland Museum through June 6, and the live paint event is set for Saturday, May 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why It Matters: It gives you an instant downtown plan with actual personality, and it feels very specifically Loveland.

🌎 THE PULSE — Outside & Around Loveland

River’s Edge Natural Area vehicle access is still closed
Source: Loveland detours and closures
The Gist: The River’s Edge Natural Area vehicle entrance and parking area remain closed, with alternate bike and pedestrian access still available from East First Street and South Namaqua Avenue.
Why It Matters: It is still usable, but you will want to plan your route before you go.

The Loveland Farmers Market opens June 7
Source: Loveland Farmers Market
The Gist: The city’s market season opens Sunday, June 7 at Fairgrounds Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Why It Matters: Not this weekend yet, but close enough that it belongs on your radar if you like to plan one week ahead.

Winona Outdoor Pool is back for the season
Source: Loveland Parks & Recreation special events
The Gist: Winona Outdoor Pool opened Monday, May 25, and the city is already promoting a 50th anniversary celebration there on June 15.
Why It Matters: It is one of those quiet summer markers that makes Loveland feel like Loveland again.

RMNP timed entry is now in effect
Source: Rocky Mountain National Park timed-entry permit system
The Gist: Rocky Mountain National Park’s timed-entry system started May 22. Most park areas require timed entry from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the Bear Lake Road Corridor requires a reservation from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Why It Matters: If you are using this weekend to sneak in a mountain day, this is the detail that decides whether your morning feels smooth or annoying.

⭐ THIS WEEKEND’S MUST-DO

Governor’s Art Show & Sale

The easiest answer this weekend is the art show. If you only do one thing, make it the Loveland Museum stop and build the rest of your day around it.

The Gist: The show features 65 Colorado artists this year, and Saturday’s live paint event adds the extra energy that turns a museum visit into an actual outing.
Why It Matters: It is central, distinctly local, easy to pair with coffee or dinner downtown, and good for couples, visitors, and families who want one plan that feels worth leaving the house for.

RESTAURANT & BREWERY SPOTLIGHT

MeadKrieger Meadery
A downtown Loveland meadery with a Norse-leaning identity, handcrafted meads, and enough personality to feel like an actual night out instead of just another drink stop. It fits this weekend because it plays well with a museum-and-downtown plan.
Website: MeadKrieger Meadery

Sweet Heart Winery
Riverside patio, weekend live music, and the kind of setting that makes a casual hang feel more like an event. It fits this weekend because both Friday and Sunday already come with built-in concert timing.

Loveland Aleworks
A community-minded downtown brewery with a busy event calendar and live music set for both Friday and Saturday this weekend. It fits if you want a low-friction local plan that still feels social.

SPOTLIGHT STORY — People, Places, or Businesses

Loveland does not need to manufacture summer energy. Sometimes it just has to reopen the right place.

That is part of what makes Winona Outdoor Pool such a good local story this week. The pool opened for the season on May 25, and the city is already building toward its 50th anniversary celebration on June 15. On paper, that is just a parks update. In real life, it is one of those small civic signals that resets the whole mood of town.

Outdoor pool season in Loveland means school is almost out, family schedules loosen up a little, and the “what should we do?” question gets easier to answer. It is not flashy. It is useful. That matters. The best local traditions usually are not the loudest ones. They are the ones that residents actually build weekends around.

Winona also says something nice about Loveland’s rhythm. This town does big art weekends and mountain-day energy well, but it also does the practical stuff well: a place where kids can burn off an afternoon, where families can keep a summer routine, and where longtime residents instantly feel the season change. That is the kind of local infrastructure people miss when it is gone and appreciate the second it comes back.

🚗 WEEKEND ESCAPES — Easy Colorado Plans

Colorado day trip: Rocky Mountain National Park morning run
Timing: Early Saturday or Sunday, ideally before timed-entry hours tighten your options.
Why it works this weekend: Snowmelt season is here, the alpine views are back in the conversation, and this is still the cleanest “let’s get out of town but not too far” move from Loveland.
Source: RMNP timed-entry permit system
The Gist: Timed entry is now active, so the smart play is an early start and a clear plan for which part of the park you want.
Why It Matters: You do not need a huge production to make this feel like a real getaway.

Colorado overnight: Estes Park stay with a slow-start Sunday
Timing: Saturday check-in, Sunday breakfast-and-stroll energy.
Why it works this weekend: Estes lets you turn the RMNP reservation headache down a notch and makes one park day feel more relaxed.
Source: RMNP timed-entry permit system
The Gist: If you want mountain air without overcommitting, an Estes overnight gives you the easiest add-on plan from Loveland.
Why It Matters: It feels bigger than a day trip without requiring a long haul.

Loveland-area outdoor plan: Splash-pad circuit plus a park stop
Timing: Midday Friday through Sunday.
Why it works this weekend: The weather is warm enough for water-play logic, and Loveland’s park features are already in season.
Source: Loveland parks facilities
The Gist: Fairgrounds Park and Loveland Sports Park splash pads are running 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday, and Mehaffey Park’s water feature is operating daily.
Why It Matters: It is cheap, local, and very easy to say yes to.

PET CORNER — Animal Love Spotlight

Looking to brighten your winter? The NOCO Humane (Larimer Campus in Loveland) is always a great place to check for adoptable pets seeking a forever home. NOCO Humane+1

💛 FEEL-GOOD LOVELAND — Good News

Sweet Heart Winery is doing something I always like seeing from a local place: making the good-time version of Loveland point back toward actual community support. On its current site, the winery highlights a few of its give-back partnerships, and they are not random. Climb wine supports pediatric heart care through Children’s Hospital Colorado. Patriot Press supports veterans who restore trails and backcountry routes on horseback. Sweet Heart Cider supports Sexual Assault Victim Advocate Center.

That does not mean every patio pour needs to become a moral statement. It just means one of Loveland’s better-known gathering spots has built some local and regional giving into the business itself, which is a good reminder that “go somewhere nice this weekend” and “support something worthwhile” do not always have to be separate choices.
